UNITED STATES – AeroDesigns has announced the development of Portland International Jetport (KPWM) for X-Plane 11. The project is currently a “few weeks into development” and the team is about to “start unwrapping and texturing” the terminal building and parking structure. In addition to the actual airport, the package is expected to include various landmarks from the surrounding area.
Keep in mind, however, a “set price and release date are yet to be determined.”
Located in Portland (ME), KPWM is the largest airport in the state of Maine and handles more than 2 million passengers per annum. The airport is served by most major airlines in the United States with flights throughout the country.
Please see below for the complete project announcement as well as some preview images.
Guyfly and I would like to announce the new project that we’ve been working on for the past few weeks:
KPWM Portland International Jetport!
Located in Maine, the United States, north of Boston, Portland offers a great diversity in flights. From daily airline connections to cities like Washington, New York and Chicago to smaller general aviation or regional flights in a Cessna 208 and even Cargo service with FedEx. This airport has grown quite significantly over the years and it is fortunately still growing. It has handled well over 2 million passengers in 2018 and to cope with this growth they completed a large terminal expansion in 2011, which is of course represented in this scenery.
The currently planned features are as follows:
3D Terminal and surrounding airport buildings with high-resolution textures and PBR implementation
Highly detailed ground textures with PBR
High-resolution orthophotos (9cm; .3 foot)
Custom accurate mesh created with Ortho4xp patch
Full night lighting
Landmarks surrounding the airport are included such as the brightly coloured fuel tanks and Veterans Memorial Bridge on approach for 29
SAM will be supported with own custom created Jetways
WT3 Compatible (thanks to the always amazing Capt K-Man)
We are now a few weeks into development and we’d like to give you an overview of what is finished and what we are currently working on.
Ground textures and markings
Landmarks (this might be expanded, we’re not sure yet)
3D modelling of the terminal, tower and parking structure
We are about to start unwrapping and texturing the terminal followed by the parking structure. The tower is already completed. While that is underway we are also starting to model the surrounding airport buildings and the hangars to the north of the Tower.
A set price and release date are yet to be determined, we will inform you about this in due time.
We will, of course, keep you up to date with our progress and we hope you will like the 20 preview images we have ready for you below!
