FSimStudios Edmonton and Other Projects

Following the Tocumen announcement earlier today, FSimStudios has posted the first preview images from CYEG, Edmonton International Airport as well as some new information regarding various other projects. Please allow me to summarize below.

According to FSimStudios, “CYEG is being developed, with great attention to detail. No release date yet.” Keep in mind, as previously reported, the project is planned for Prepar3D V4.4+ only and will feature PBR materials.

Check out some preliminary renders below.

In regards to the expansion pack, the team is having issues blending satellite imagery with Orbx addons and default landclass + coastlines. As such, a significant portion of the landclass will have to be modified in order to produce smooth blending. Moreover, the general quality of the aerial imagery is not acceptable in certain areas. For these reasons, the expansion pack is delayed.

With respect to Cancun airport, there are currently no planned updates.

Aeroparque Jorge Newbery and Simón Bolívar International Airport

These projects will follow Edmonton although no release schedule is provided.

X-Plane 11

As previously discussed, FSimStudios has partnered with Windsock Simulations to bring Tocumen over to X-Plane 11. Additionally, it appears Cancun is also being converted to X-Plane 11 as well as all future projects (following the initial P3D release). The developer quotes a possible release timeline of July or August for both airports although Windsock referenced June (for Tocumen).

Other News

Moving into the future, the primary sales channel will shift to the FSimStudios web store. Although not yet available, all existing products will be added to the store and future products will be released internally first – followed by secondary channels one or two months thereafter.
