MK-Studios Lisbon, Rain + Lighting Effects

MK-Studios has posted several new preview images showcasing both rain and lighting effects with regards to the developers upcoming LPPT, Lisbon Airport for Prepar3D V4.  According to the developer, “We decided to recreate precipitation effect realistically, where water may accumulate and make surfaces more reflective.”.  Moreover, regarding runway lighting, the developer comments, “Another special thing is runway lightning.  Did you know that most of the pilots in Lisbon ask ATC to dim the runway lights?  We decided to implement them the way they’re used in the real life.”.

It’s certainly nice to see the MK-Studios development team so committed to the realistic representation of lighting dynamics.  The developer continues, “Did you also know that edge (blue) lights are not powered?  They’re reflective to the airplane lights only. Let’s keep energy usage low.  Don’t be surprised if the airport is not very bright at night!  You’ll see them close to your airplane only.”.

Lastly, the developer notes, “And the last tip for you.  In real life only 3 holding points are lightened.  These happen to be HS, S1 and HN.  Don’t be surprised if others are off…  Yes, we simulated them.  And yes, they will change colour to green when you approach to them and want to enter the runway.”.
